Building for the heavy industrial market requires specialized skills. Industrial facilities are highly technical environments, which must be built to exacting standards, able to withstand extraordinary loads. Webb Construction has successfully delivered industrial projects for more than 30 years.
As Industrial General Contractors, we bring a team of skilled employees to self-perform our work, including all phases of the concrete package, allowing us to control costs, timeline and, most important, quality.
Due to the addition of new business units in Columbus, Pratt's existing compressed air plant and electrical supply substations were inadequate to handle future growth. Pratt had an existing dedicated compressor/chiller powerhouse, and for ease of utility tie in, the new compressor building needed to be constructed adjacent to the old plant. The new building is not considered an addition but is a stand-alone structure.
Site utility relocation was a significant hurdle to overcome at the beginning of the project. The only available location for the new building was directly over the primary distribution route for all the active below-grade plant utilities. During site explorations, we found that some of the most critical utilities to the entire plant operation had to be rerouted while avoiding a total plant shutdown.
Webb performed this project as prime General Contractor. We were on site at all times, through project management, quality control, site supervision and a full-time safety officer.
